The Character
Name*: Robin Crawford
Age*: 31
Squad: Floating Junior ADA for the Major Case Squad and the Special Victim's Unit
Appearance: I'm about 6'2" with blond hair and (I'm told) stunning blue eyes along with the build of a former college football player (which I am) who attempts to maintain a somewhat athletic lifestyle, but I seem to be losing that battle.
Background:
On paper, I wasn't ever expected to really go far in life, seeing as I was the son of a con (wo)man and an unknown father. At the age of five, Lex (my twin brother) and I were taken away by social services and placed into foster care when my mother was sent on one of her many stints in jail. Being the more social and friendly of the pair, I was adopted almost immediately by an upper middle-class couple who couldn't have children of their own. Unfortunately, they couldn't also adopt Lex and so my brother and I, who had only had each other to depend upon at that point were separated for what we thought could possibly be forever.
In a desire to prove myself and move beyond the situation of my birth, I threw myself into everything I did. My adoptive parents were quite supportive of me, so that really helped me to excel. By the end of my High School career, I'd already gained something of a reputation as being a hard worker both in and out of the classroom, even to the point where I was awarded an athletic scholarship to NYU.
Everything seemed to be going quite well for me until one bright and beautiful day in my Senior year. You see, on that day, I suffered a terrible injury that forever changed my life. The injury totally messed up my knee, and I could no longer play football. Now, to a lot of student athletes, that would've been a crushing blow, but not to me. Rather, throughout my school career he'd been pursuing something else, graduating shortly thereafter Summa Cum Laude, my degree being in Criminology.
Shortly after graduation, I decided that while I'd always wanted to go into law enforcement as a CSU, the courtroom aspect of the legal system is really where I wanted to be. Applying to law school, I gained admission and attended.
It was around this time that Lex came back into my life, after a fashion. Sadly, Lex had gotten involved very heavily in drugs, and he came seeking his brother who'd "made good" to try to hit me up for money, but eventually (after a lot of hard work) I persuaded him to straighten out his life. Even though it was heart breaking and difficult, I helped my brother to cope with his addiction and 'get clean'. This all became moot, however, when Lex was caught in a drive-by on the way to a Narconon meeting and was killed. Thanks to a witness, the attackers were identified and they were convicted of murder. Sadly, however, the case was later overturned on appeal because of faulty jury instructions on the part of the judge. To this day I have to admit that I harbor a deep abiding dislike for the fact that even though the murderers were convicted, there's nothing I can do to bring them to justice.
I threw myself single-mindedly into my studies so that I wouldn't have to deal with my pain at finally reuniting with his brother, only to lose him so soon. This ended up beneficial, as I took my middling marks and turned them into excellent marks. After all, I finally had a goal. I wanted to become a prosecutor and help to bring criminals to justice.
Graduating near the top of my class, I began my tenure with the District Attorney's office as a junior prosecutor. When ADA Carver went on a temporary Leave of Absence, I was assigned as his replacement for a couple of months. Of course, I didn't have nearly enough experience at that point to stay there on a permanent basis, even as his second chair, so I went back to working in the White Collar crimes, having been recommended as senior prosecutor for the division by Casey Novak, with whom I'd worked during my first stint in White Collar crimes.
Recently with the death of ADA Carver, I applied for a transfer back to MCS, but instead was assigned as a floating Junior Prosecutor to float between the Major Case unit and the Special Victims units. It allows me to further assist with the important liaison between the units, and should a case arise in which there is a need for both units to become involved, I assist work as a conduit of information between the two departments.
Personality*: I think of myself as a very friendly kind of guy who is equally as at home in a courtroom as I am in a social environment. I was raised in the South, so I still has a bit of that 'charming southern boy' drawl and general southern gentleman attitude (which is good, as that has at least given me something of a common ground to work with Arthur Branch) if I do say so myself.
